BACKED BY SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
Steve Middendorf has more than 35 years of experience in the landscape architecture industry. He states that he has had some of his most rewarding experiences during the latter half of these years, specializing in exclusively multifamily and mixed use design work.
Prior to being the director of landscape architecture for The Preston Partnership, he worked for a large-scale resort design firm in Florida. He makes 'resort' a standard for all of his projects. Prior--a park planner for the City of Lexington, KY. Beginning in 1985, he spent more than a decade as a landscape contractor, both as an employee and later as a business owner--to this day ensuring all he designs is 'buildable' as he has personally installed much of what he currently designs.
A FOCUS ON CREATIVITY AND CONSTRUCTABILITY
Through his connections with various contractors throughout regions of the US that include the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic (among others), Steve ensures that he is updated with the current pricing and ensures his projects are being bid appropriately. He also offers some of the most detailed construction documents in the industry. While other firms have an average of 12 sheets per set, he frequently has as many as 50.
All his designs are buildable, affordable and utilize unique concepts. . As you can see from the various photos on our website, Steve prides himself on his creativity. Expect a beautifully unique outcome when you work with him and the architects/engineers with whom he has had long-standing relationships.

COLLABORATION WITH ALL DISCIPLINES
Steve collaborates with the various consultants on all of his projects (particularly architects) to ensure a seamless design that is fully integrated with all involved. As a former employee of two architecture firms for the last two decades, Steve is fully cognizant of the various architectural issues facing all of his multifamily projects, and--just as importantly--relies heavily on architect's design input to ensure his projects are not designed in a "bubble" and instills the creativity provided by the talented architects he works with.
